The arrival of Version 6.2v4 brings an in-depth rework to Durin, one of the most anticipated characters in Genshin Impact. HoYoverse has implemented a series of number-based refinements and design consistency updates to his Elemental Burst and Constellation 1 (C1), ensuring better balance between his dual modes Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts and Principle of Darkness: As the Stars Smolder. Alongside these changes, an intriguing detail has emerged: despite his dragon lineage, Durin still cannot use his own wings to fly, a decision that has sparked community debate over gameplay limitations and lore consistency.

Burst Scaling and Numerical Adjustments

Durin’s Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts now delivers enhanced multipliers across its full combo sequence. The original scaling of 171.36% + 138.96% + 152.928% has been boosted to 214.128% + 173.52% + 201.312%. This revision substantially increases his Light-form output, enabling him to maintain stronger battlefield presence even when focusing on utility or support-driven roles. The improvement also balances the damage disparity previously seen between his two stances, allowing Light Durin to contribute meaningful DPS while still offering teamwide support through buffs and elemental coordination.

Meanwhile, Principle of Darkness: As the Stars Smolder maintains its destructive theme but benefits from more controlled scaling. Its damage percentages now sit at 225.792% + 183.168% + 201.312%, reinforcing its identity as the high-risk, high-reward stance. By refining these numbers, HoYoverse ensures that the Darkness form retains its explosive potential without making it unmanageable in prolonged rotations or co-op scenarios.

The Dragon of White Flame and Dragon of Dark Decay modifiers have also been adjusted for stability. The White Flame’s damage was slightly reduced from 187.344% to 170.352%, emphasizing its role as a steady Light-mode finisher, while the Dark Decay’s multiplier decreased from 274.608% to 233.712% to maintain better consistency between elemental phases. These recalibrations reduce burst damage spikes and make Durin’s kit more predictable across different builds, particularly those that emphasize hybrid scaling between ATK and elemental reactions.

Constellation 1: Adamah’s Redemption

Durin’s first constellation, Adamah’s Redemption, refines the way his Cycle of Enlightenment mechanic operates. Both Light and Darkness forms now grant 20 stacks, up from 18, allowing for longer-duration buffs and more flexible rotations.

  • Under Principle of Purity, nearby party members gain these stacks for 20 seconds. Each Normal, Charged, or Elemental attack consumes one stack to increase their damage by 60% of Durin’s ATK. This design reinforces Durin’s supportive utility, promoting synergy with fast-hitting characters like Ayaka, Yelan, or Alhaitham.

  • Under Principle of Darkness, Durin himself gains 20 stacks, and each Elemental Burst attack consumes two stacks to amplify damage by 150% of his ATK, reduced from 200%. This change prevents over-scaling and improves consistency with existing damage caps while retaining a strong burst identity for players who build him as a solo damage dealer.

Lore and Gameplay Paradox: The Dragon Who Cannot Fly

Despite these buffs, one of the most striking points of community discussion remains unresolved. Durin still cannot use his wings to fly in Version 6.2v4. Fans expected this ability to appear in either his idle animations or exploration talents, but HoYoverse continues to restrict flight mechanics, likely due to engine limitations and map balance concerns. Lore-wise, this may symbolize Durin’s corrupted state and lingering restraint from his past conflict with Dvalin, though players have noted the irony of a dragon who remains grounded despite his aerial heritage.

Meta Implications and Future Potential

These refinements make Durin one of the most flexible hybrid DPS characters in the game. The 6.2v4 update enhances his burst reliability, ensures smoother transitions between Light and Darkness stances, and rewards tactical stack management. While his lack of flight remains a curious omission, the update further establishes Durin as a character with deep mechanical design and narrative weight. His evolving skill set hints at potential synergy with upcoming Hexenzirkel-themed content and future Mondstadt expansions.
