Genshin Impact Five-Star Prime Tier List: The Strongest Characters in the Current Meta

Detailed analysis of the best 5-star Prime characters, DPS rankings, supports, and meta-defining teams in Genshin Impact

The current Genshin Impact Prime Tier List offers a detailed snapshot of how five-star characters perform at their highest potential in today’s evolving meta. This ranking focuses on Prime conditions, meaning optimized builds, relevant constellations, proper weapons, and ideal team compositions. Rather than judging characters in isolation, the tier list evaluates overall impact, scalability, team flexibility, and future adaptability, all of which are crucial in late-game content such as Spiral Abyss and Conflagration-style challenges.

  • At the highest level, the S+ Tier is reserved for characters that dominate the game regardless of rotation changes, enemy mechanics, or future releases. Escoffier stands out as one of the most overwhelming units in the game under Prime conditions. Her scaling, synergy with multiple cores, and ability to elevate entire teams place her in a league of her own. Alongside her, Columbina, Durin, Furina, and Citlali define the modern support and hybrid DPS meta. These characters not only provide massive damage or buffs but also enable multiple archetypes, making them future-proof investments.

When it comes to top-tier DPS, characters such as Mavuika, Skirk, Nefer, Flins, and Sisyvai represent the absolute ceiling of damage potential. These units are so closely matched in output that the deciding factor often becomes team flexibility rather than raw numbers. Among them, Sisyvai is slightly more restrictive due to her tighter core requirements, while others benefit from a wider pool of viable supports, allowing greater adaptability across different team compositions.

  • On the S tier DPS we got, characters like Varessa, who thanks to Durin has achieved one of the best overload scores, we also have Neuvillette remains one of the most discussed characters in the Prime tier list. Once considered the undisputed best carry for an entire year, Neuvillette still holds a strong position due to his stability, self-sufficiency, and adaptability to future teams. His performance improves significantly when paired with Furina, Escoffier, and future Cryo supports, although fully optimized Skirk teams can sometimes outperform Neuvillette-focused compositions. As a result, Neuvillette sits just below the absolute top DPS tier, but remains a consistent and reliable pick.
Mualani has closed the gap with Neuvillette considerably. In optimized Prime setups, Mualani can rival Neuvillette’s damage output, especially in compositions tailored around her strengths. The comparison between these two characters highlights how the current meta rewards synergy and team optimization rather than isolated character strength. Within this category we also find characters like Ayaka, Kinich and Arlecchino.

In the Top S of supports, we find Ineffa, which provides a good ceiling for Columbine, Neffer, and Flins teams, and activates Lunar Reaction charges. We Also have Yelan and Nahida, with the variations in Dendro's teams that remain to this day. The healers that are within this category are Lauma, with his C1, in addition to also being a very good support for Lunar reactions, next to him we find Xilonen, who at C0 does a great job but with C2 takes many teams very far.

  • In the A-tier DPS Prime category, characters like Raiden, klee, Navia, Alhaitham, Chasca, Tighnari occupies a unique position as a highly efficient and comfortable DPS option. With shorter 15-second cooldown rotations, he aligns perfectly with future team cores involving Columbina, Lauma, and Ineffa. Tighnari offers smoother gameplay and better synergy with fast-paced team structures. When properly built with weapons like Aqua Simulacra or his signature bow, his damage ceiling is significantly higher than many players expect.

Support-oriented characters like Mona is another standout in A Tier, proving that standard banner characters can still dominate in optimized scenarios. She is considered best in slot for Skirk teams, extremely strong in Mualani compositions, and remains a valuable secondary or tertiary option for Flins setups thanks to her Lunar Grada buffs, Elemental Mastery boosts, and damage amplification. Having multiple teams represented in the top rankings cements Mona’s status as one of the strongest permanent five-star units. Nilou, for example, has experienced a resurgence thanks to new teammates like Lauma and emerging Bloom-focused Columbina teams. She now enables powerful pure Bloom compositions without Electro units, offering consistent damage and strong resistance shredding at higher constellations. Her value lies in how much power she brings simply by existing in a team, rather than direct on-field damage. Then there's Émilie as an Inside support, who shines much more in teams with Arlecchino or Burn reactions, then we have Kazuha, who for a long time dominated all sports, who despite declining in the meta, still has great potential.
The healers we found in this category are Xianyun, Jean and Baizhu.

  • Lower tiers, such as B-tier DPS, include characters like Wanderer (Scaramouche), Xiao that continues to receive indirect buffs through new artifact sets and support characters. While his lower constellations offer limited value, Xiao C6 becomes an entirely different monster, capable of rivaling top-tier DPS characters when paired with Faruzan, Furina, and Bennett. Even at lower investment, Xiao remains competitive with characters like Scaramouche, benefiting from continued meta support. Then Wriothesley and his Permafrost team haven't changed much, nor have they benefited from the new mechanics. Cyno's entire prime team relies on C2 or C1 Furina, Nahida, and Baizhu to get the most out of it. Then we find Diluc and Itto, as with other characters, great potential, but few new ceilings in teams besides old mechanics.

The supports on this list are, Venti has revived a bit thanks to the witches' buff and her new mechanic, we also have Shenhe where her only prime is C2 and weapon, then we have Albedo, basically with the same case as Venti, minimal improvement. We continue with Yae Miko, Ganyu and Zhongli. The healers here are Kokomi and Qiqi.

  • From here on, within the C-tier and D-tier, we have the rest of the characters like Lyney, Keqing, Tartaglia and Ayato on DPS field. For supports Chiori, Dehya and healer Mizuki. Then for D-tier, on DPS Yoimiya, Eula and healer Sigewinne.
While these characters can still clear Spiral Abyss, they struggle significantly in Conflagration-style content or boss encounters designed to punish outdated mechanics. These units often require very specific conditions or niche buffs to perform at a high level.

In conclusion, this five-star Prime Tier list reflects a metagame where team cores, constellation scaling, and future-proof design matter more than character popularity. The top-tier characters not only perform exceptionally well now, but they are also positioned to benefit from upcoming supports, artifacts, and reaction systems. For players who prioritize flexibility and plan for long-term investments, focusing on high-tier S and A Prime characters offers the greatest return in power, flexibility, and longevity. As Genshin Impact continues to evolve, players must evolve alongside it.
