HoYoverse has published the first official breakdown of Vodyanitsa’s combat role in Genshin Impact, confirming that the upcoming five-star Hydro character is designed to support the active party member from off field. Her toolkit combines coordinated Hydro attacks with enemy resistance reduction, healing and interruption resistance, while her Elemental Burst deals area-of-effect Hydro damage.
The details arrived in the official Vodyanitsa character skill showcase on September 14. HoYoverse also confirmed that Vodyanitsa will become available through an Event Wish on September 23, giving players a clear date for her debut after weeks of previews tied to Version 7.1.
What HoYoverse confirmed about Vodyanitsa’s kit
The official overview describes Vodyanitsa as a Hydro support character who can follow the active character and continue attacking enemies. That makes her an off-field contributor rather than a unit who must remain on screen throughout a full rotation.
Her attacks can reduce the Hydro and Cryo Resistance of affected enemies. The combination points toward teams whose main damage comes from either element, but the announcement does not restrict her to a single reaction or party template. It also does not publish the full talent values, durations or activation rules in the accompanying social post, so exact rotation planning will need the in-game talent descriptions and final release data.
Vodyanitsa can also heal the active character and improve that character’s interruption resistance. Those two effects address different forms of defensive pressure. Healing restores lost health, while interruption resistance helps the on-field unit continue an attack string instead of being knocked out of an animation. Combining both effects with off-field Hydro damage gives Vodyanitsa several jobs in one team slot.
Her Elemental Burst is the most direct part of the summary. After using it, Vodyanitsa deals area-of-effect Hydro damage. HoYoverse has not used the short showcase to confirm every multiplier, energy requirement or follow-up interaction, so the Burst should not yet be judged only by the brief description.
