HoYoverse has officially confirmed that Version 6.4 of Genshin Impact will be the final update available for players on Genshin Impact running on PlayStation 4. Starting April 8, PS4 users will no longer be able to access the game, receive future updates, or log in to their accounts from the platform.
This announcement marks a significant turning point for the community. Since the game’s launch in 2020, the PS4 has been one of the main platforms supporting millions of Travelers worldwide. However, as the game continues to expand with larger regions, more complex mechanics, and higher graphical demands, maintaining support for older hardware has become increasingly challenging.
According to the official notice, once service ends on April 8:
• Players will not be able to start the game on PS4
• No further patches or version updates will be released for the platform
• Login functionality will be disabled
• Ongoing events and future content will not be accessible
This means Version 6.4 will effectively serve as the final playable chapter for PS4 users unless they migrate to another supported platform.
Why Is PS4 Support Ending?
As Genshin Impact evolves, each new version introduces heavier system requirements, more detailed environments, advanced visual effects, and expanded world content. Over time, performance limitations on the PS4 have become more noticeable, particularly during major updates.
By ending support on the older console generation, HoYoverse can focus on optimizing the experience for current platforms such as PS5, PC, and mobile devices, ensuring smoother performance and faster content delivery.
What Should PS4 Players Do?
The good news is that Genshin Impact accounts are cross platform. Players can continue their journey by logging into the same HoYoverse account on:
• PlayStation 5
• PC
• iOS or Android devices
All progress, characters, Primogems, and purchases remain tied to the account, not the console itself. This allows Travelers to transition without losing their data.
The End of an Era
For many fans, the PS4 version represents where their adventure began. From Mondstadt’s early days to the latest regions and story arcs, the console played a major role in shaping the global success of Genshin Impact.
Version 6.4 will therefore carry additional emotional weight for long time PS4 players. It is not just another update. It is the closing chapter of a platform era that helped define the game’s early growth.
As April 8 approaches, PS4 Travelers are encouraged to back up account information, link their HoYoverse ID if necessary, and prepare for a platform transition to continue exploring Teyvat without interruption.
