Columbina Receives Heavy Nerfs and the Genshin Impact Community Reacts With Concern

Columbina’s Beta Changes Spark Debate Over Her Power at C0 and the Growing Gap With High Constellations

The recent nerfs to Columbina during the current beta phase have caused a strong reaction across the Genshin Impact community, especially among free to play players. As one of the most anticipated characters of Version 6.3, Columbina was expected to redefine several team compositions thanks to her Lunar reactions, strong off-field utility, and broad synergy potential. However, the latest adjustments have significantly altered how she performs, particularly at Constellation 0.

What Exactly Was Nerfed in Columbina’s Kit

The most impactful change targets Columbina’s off-field damage scaling. Her Lunar reaction hits, which previously relied on fewer but higher-damage instances, have had their multipliers reduced. For example, Lunar reaction scaling at Talent Level 10 was reduced from around 10 percent per hit to approximately 8.47 percent, a noticeable downgrade when multiplied across multiple rotations.

For players at C0, this change is especially important. Columbina already required careful energy management, often forcing players to use Prototype Amber, high Energy Recharge builds, or even an Energy Recharge Sands instead of HP. With lower damage scaling, her overall value at low investment is now more limited, even if she still remains stronger than alternative enablers like Aino in most scenarios.

Another major point of contention is the Constellation scaling adjustments. Originally, Columbina’s early constellations provided a 3 percent Lunar reaction bonus per constellation, calculated as a final multiplier. This has now been reduced to 1.5 percent per constellation, effectively cutting that bonus in half. While this seems small on paper, it significantly reduces the appeal of incremental constellation investment.

Why Columbina C2 Is Now the Real Power Spike

Ironically, while C0 Columbina was nerfed, Constellation 2 received a massive indirect buff. The HP bonus from C2 was increased from 30 percent to 40 percent, and the conversion buffs tied to her Lunar synergies were strengthened. For example, her interaction with characters like Flins now converts 1 percent of Columbina’s max HP into Attack, meaning that at 40,000 HP she can provide 400 Attack, a substantial increase over previous values.

Additionally, the Lunar reaction bonus at C2 was increased to 7 percent, meaning that players who invest into C2 now gain more total reaction bonus than before, even after the constellation nerfs. This has turned Columbina C2 into one of the strongest constellations in the entire game, reinforcing the growing perception that she is a high-investment character by design.

Community Reaction and Meta Implications

Unsurprisingly, the community response has been mixed but intense. Many players are expressing frustration over the widening gap between free to play Columbina and premium Columbina. While she still enables powerful team cores such as Electro-Charged Lunar, Super Vaporize, Lunar Bloom, and Lunar Crystallize, her personal damage contribution at C0 no longer feels exceptional.

At the same time, theorycrafters acknowledge that Columbina remains a meta-defining enabler, capable of upgrading multiple top-tier teams and unlocking new compositions that were previously impossible. Her value now lies less in raw damage and more in how many teams she enables, especially for players who lack characters like Flins, Nefer, or Zibai.

It is also important to note that these changes come from Beta Version 3, meaning they are not final. A Version 4 beta update is still expected, and further adjustments could occur before release.

Final Thoughts

Columbina is far from weak, but these nerfs clearly establish her as a constellation-driven character. For players willing to invest, especially up to C2, she becomes extraordinarily powerful. For others, she remains strong but more restrained, offering flexibility rather than overwhelming damage. Whether these changes are healthy for the game or simply reinforce monetization gaps remains a topic of heated discussion as Version 6.3 approaches.
