HoYoverse has officially unveiled the full details for Genshin Impact Version “Luna IV”, titled Song of the Welkin Moon: Postlude – A Traveler on a Winter’s Night, marking one of the most ambitious updates in the game’s history. This version expands the world of Teyvat with a new region, introduces highly anticipated characters, deepens the main storyline, and reshapes combat through new Lunar Reactions.
The update is scheduled to go live on January 14, 2026, following a maintenance period estimated at five hours. As part of the update compensation, eligible players will receive 600 Primogems, split between maintenance compensation and issue fix rewards. These rewards apply to Travelers who have reached Adventure Rank 5 or above within the specified timeframe.
One of the most significant additions in Version Luna IV is the opening of Nod-Krai, a mysterious region bathed in moonlight. New explorable areas include Voidsea Outlook, Wavechaser Plain, and Ashveil Peak. Players who have completed the Archon Quest Prologue Act III will automatically unlock a Teleport Waypoint in Voidsea Outlook, ensuring immediate access to this new land. The update also adds new Meeting Points, World Quests, Fishing Points, and collectible Radiant Spincrystals, reinforcing Nod-Krai as a major endgame destination.
The character lineup in Version Luna IV is headlined by Columbina, a 5-star Hydro Catalyst user known as the Moon Maiden of Nod-Krai. Columbina introduces a new layer of gameplay by enabling teams to trigger Lunar-Charged, Lunar-Bloom, and Lunar-Crystallize reactions simultaneously. Her kit focuses on sustained off-field damage and team support through mechanics like Gravity Ripple and a powerful Lunar Domain Elemental Burst that enhances Lunar reaction damage for all allies within its area.
Joining her is Zibai, a 5-star Geo Sword character, a legendary figure from Liyue myths. Zibai specializes in Lunar-Crystallize damage, transforming her attacks during Lunar Phase Shift and unleashing devastating Geo-based reactions. The new 4-star character Illuga, a Geo Polearm support, further strengthens Lunar-Crystallize teams by boosting Geo damage, CRIT stats, and Elemental Mastery through his Lightkeeper’s Oath effects.
Combat itself evolves with the introduction of the Lunar-Crystallize elemental reaction, which occurs when Geo interacts with Hydro under specific conditions. This reaction generates Moondrifts and culminates in Moondrift Harmony, dealing scalable Geo damage that can critically hit. Lunar reactions play a central role throughout Luna IV, from character kits to Spiral Abyss blessings and enemy mechanics.
Version Luna IV also adds a new Artifact Domain, Moonchild’s Treasures, offering the sets Aubade of Morningstar and Moon and A Day Carved from Rising Winds, both designed to amplify Lunar reactions and off-field performance. Complementing these are new 5-star weapons, including Nocturne’s Curtain Call and Lightbearing Moonshard, which heavily reward Lunar reaction gameplay.
Story content expands dramatically with Archon Quest Acts VII and VIII, continuing the Song of the Welkin Moon narrative and rewarding players with a special Traveler outfit after completion. Numerous World Quests, new bosses such as The Doctor and Lord of the Hidden Depths, and fresh enemy types like Frostnight Scions further enrich the narrative and exploration experience.
Beyond combat and story, Version Luna IV delivers new character outfits, including Neuvillette’s Melusent Gift and Yaoyao’s Rainlit Bamboo Reverie, alongside a massive update to Miliastra Wonderland, Genius Invokation TCG, Imaginarium Theater, and Spiral Abyss rotations. Extensive quality-of-life improvements, interface optimizations, and bug fixes round out the update, making Luna IV one of the most comprehensive patches to date.
Overall, Genshin Impact Version Luna IV stands out as a landmark update, blending narrative progression, innovative combat systems, and large-scale exploration. With Columbina’s debut, the unveiling of Nod-Krai, and the rise of Lunar Reactions, the update sets a new standard for future expansions and solidifies Genshin Impact’s evolving live-service design.
