Genshin Impact's Version 7.1 update details introduce weekly Secret Tsarist Assignments in Snezhnaya, a new boss at Fellfrost Peak, and two additional Edge of Survival stages. HoYoverse published the full notice on September 22, ahead of maintenance beginning at 22:00 UTC that day. The patch notes give players a clearer route into the new activities, alongside compensation and a range of fixes that were not the focus of earlier event previews.
How the weekly assignments unlock
The Secret Tsarist Assignments are being added to the Special Recruitment Project. After completing Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act III, “White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking,” players can visit Confidential Secretary Chayka at Zapolyarny Palace each week to accept them. Completing a certain number yields Furnishings, Furnishing Blueprints and other rewards. The notice does not give an exact assignment count or a full reward table, so there is no reliable basis yet for a weekly completion estimate.
HoYoverse says additional rewards, including Wind Gliders, will arrive in future versions. That is a forward-looking reward plan, not a promise that a glider can be earned when Version 7.1 opens. Anyone interested in the weekly track should first check the story requirement rather than assuming it becomes available merely by logging in after maintenance.
The prerequisite is especially relevant because Version 7.1 adds two permanent Archon Quest acts in sequence. Act III requires Adventure Rank 18 and completion of Chapter VII: Act II, “Wraith's Nocturne.” Act IV, “A Rekviem for the Underworld,” then requires Act III. Both acts support Focused Experience Mode. The separate world quest “Swords and Secrets” also requires Act III, while “Upstream Variations” requires Act II and Level 2 at the Meeting Point: Tidesong Cavern. These are different gates, so the new weekly assignments should not be conflated with every other quest appearing in the patch.
A Fellfrost Peak boss and more combat stages
The Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow is the new enemy in Fellfrost Peak. According to the update notice, once her HP drops below a certain level, she enters an ice coffin and periodically deals area Cryo damage. Stellar Glimmer reactions can make the coffin fragile, at which point Electro and Anemo attacks are particularly effective against it. If the coffin takes no damage, she recovers some HP and creates an ice blade for a counterattack; damaging it instead leaves her weakened for a time. HoYoverse does not provide the HP threshold or a numerical duration for that vulnerability in this notice.
That sequence gives players a practical reason to pay attention to the phase rather than only the boss's health bar. The announcement describes a specific opening created by reactions and follow-up attacks, but it does not establish a mandatory team composition or say that other attacks cannot damage the coffin. A new Teleport Waypoint will also be added to Fellfrost Peak. The requirement for the “Icebound Snowscape (I)” waypoint achievement is adjusted accordingly, while existing completions remain intact.
Edge of Survival, the third-person shooter combat activity, receives two stages named “Fiery Feather Pursuit” and “Ice-Imprisoned Citadel,” each with corresponding rewards. Its All Records screen under Frontrunners' Edge enters a data-compilation period after the version update and reopens once that process finishes. The notice provides no reopening time, so players should not mistake a temporarily unavailable records screen for the removal of the mode.
