HoYoverse has published the final Level 90 and Refinement Rank 1 details for Genshin Impact’s two new Version 7.1 five-star weapons. Beyond the Chrysalis is a CRIT DMG sword built around a fixed Skill-and-Burst sequence, while Hymn of the Maelstrom is an HP catalyst that turns healing and Frozen or Stellar Swirl triggers into extra support for the active character.
The official weapon overview went live on September 16, one week before Version 7.1 launches on September 23. It highlights three event-exclusive four-star weapons receiving boosted Event Wish drop rates: New Bough, Winter’s Heavy Heart and Breezeborne Refrain. It also says the event Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon will award Silver Light and its Refinement Materials.
Beyond the Chrysalis rewards a deliberate three-step sequence
Beyond the Chrysalis reaches 674 Base ATK and 44.10% CRIT DMG at Level 90. Its Refinement Rank 1 passive, Dance of Wings Unbound, activates whenever the wielder uses an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst. Each activation grants the next effect in a fixed three-part sequence.
The first effect, Winds of Devotion, raises the wielder’s CRIT DMG by 56% for 10 seconds. The second, Winds of Defiance, raises the Stellar Swirl Reaction DMG dealt by the wielder by 36% for 10 seconds. The third, Winds of Plenty, restores 5 Elemental Energy. That final effect can restore up to 5 Energy through this method every four seconds.
The sequence matters as much as the individual numbers. A character cannot simply choose the CRIT DMG, reaction bonus or Energy restoration on demand. Skill and Burst uses advance through the three effects in order, so the value of the sword depends on how cleanly a character’s rotation lines up with that cycle. HoYoverse also states that the effects are removed and the sequence resets when the wielder leaves the field.
That field-time condition is an important limit. Beyond the Chrysalis clearly favors a wielder who performs repeated actions while remaining active long enough to use the accumulated bonuses. Swapping out early clears the active effects and sends the sequence back to its starting point. Players evaluating the weapon should therefore compare its full rotation behavior, not just the eye-catching 66% CRIT DMG line.
The sword’s profile naturally matches Vesna’s Version 7.1 rollout. HoYoverse has identified her as an Anemo Stellar Linchpin, and the new passive specifically increases Stellar Swirl Reaction DMG during its second stage. That connection is based on the official character and weapon descriptions, but final build comparisons will still depend on Vesna’s released talent values, Energy needs and practical rotation timing.
Beyond the Chrysalis uses Rise of the Pale Star Army, Hollow Root of Life and Chimeric Core among its listed Ascension Materials. The official card describes it as a light, nearly weightless longsword that was once used by an unnamed individual to break bonds. It is obtained through Wishes and is explicitly marked as an event-exclusive five-star weapon.
