Genshin Impact has officially entered maintenance for its highly anticipated Version “Luna V” update, titled “Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation - Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind.” Servers went offline on February 25 at 06:00 UTC+8, with maintenance expected to last five hours. Once the update concludes, eligible players will receive 600 Primogems in total compensation, including 300 Primogems for maintenance and 300 Primogems for issue fixes.

According to HoYoverse, Travelers who reached Adventure Rank 5 or above before the maintenance deadline will be eligible for both compensations. Rewards will be distributed via in game mail within five hours after servers reopen, and must be claimed before expiration.

The headline addition in Luna V is the arrival of 5 star character “Knight of Boreas” Varka, an Anemo claymore user and Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius. Varka enters the roster as a dual wielding Anemo DPS, capable of infusing his two claymores with different Elements simultaneously. His Elemental Skill triggers a special state called Sturm und Drang, increasing Normal Attack damage and enabling powerful combo based enhancements. His Elemental Burst delivers two slashes, one scaling with a teammate’s Element and the other dealing Anemo damage, making him highly synergistic in elemental reaction teams.

Varka also introduces the unique Hexerei: Secret Rite mechanic, unlocked after specific quest progression. When activated, this feature enhances his Elemental Skill and reduces cooldowns through Normal Attack hits. Completing his World Quest unlocks his exclusive weapon appearance, “Unbreakable: Durandarte,” further expanding customization.

Alongside Varka, the update debuts the event exclusive 5 star claymore Gest of the Mighty Wolf, boosting attack speed and stacking damage bonuses through Normal Attacks, Elemental Skills, and Charged Attacks. The weapon also synergizes with Hexerei mechanics, increasing CRIT damage under certain conditions.

Story content expands significantly with Varka’s Story Quest, Lupus Majoris Chapter: Act I, permanently available after the update. Players meeting Adventure Rank requirements can dive deeper into Mondstadt’s lore and Varka’s expedition background. Meanwhile, new enemies such as the Radiant Moongecko appear in Wavechaser Plain, introducing unique mechanics like Radiant Cocoon imprisonment and destructible Moonstone Anchors.

Endgame modes also receive major adjustments. The Spiral Abyss update scheduled for March 16 enhances Anemo and Cryo bonuses across Floors 11 and 12, reinforcing synergy with Varka’s release. A new Blessing of the Abyssal Moon called Windlash Moon rewards Swirl reactions with shockwave bursts of True damage.

The Imaginarium Theater launches its first season on March 1, followed by a second season on April 1, each featuring updated Blessings, required Elements, and rotating Opening Characters. Meanwhile, Genius Invokation TCG expands with new Character Cards, balance adjustments, and cost recalculations tied to current Elemental Dice cost rather than original values.

Beyond combat, Luna V introduces wide system improvements. The Training Guide now supports up to four character level goals. Artifact Reshape receives interface refinements and improved confirmation prompts. Co Op Mode optimizations ensure faster boss respawns if rewards are not claimed. Android resource downloads are improved for multitasking stability.

The Miliastra Wonderland mode gains new cosmetic sets, lobby themes, a Voice Chat system, and enhanced social tools, including Party invitations and reporting features. Additional Serenitea Pot updates, new recipes, achievements, music tracks, and namecards further enrich player customization.

With maintenance underway and Varka’s banner arriving immediately after servers reopen, anticipation across the community is at a peak. The 600 Primogem compensation provides a welcome boost for players preparing to summon the Knight of Boreas.

As Version Luna V unfolds, its blend of powerful character additions, system optimizations, and endgame refreshes positions this update as one of the most impactful in recent months.
